Samsung Pixon 12 Review

Samsung Pixon 12 is a good news for mobile phone users who enjoys capturing memories anywhere, anytime

From purplerain, 02 Jan 2010

I got excited knowing that the Samsung Pixon 12 is equipped with a 12 megapixels camera. As a person who enjoys taking pictures of everything and anything at anytime, this is a dream come true to me. I bring my phone everywhere I go. So, it is a plus point for my phone to be able to take good-quality pictures.

Equipped with features like tracking touch auto-focus, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, a wide dynamic range and image stabilization, I am convinced that Samsung Pixon 12 is actually a digital camera stucked in a phone. The pictures taken do not only look good on the handphone, thanks to the AMOLED display, but when transferred to the PC, its clarity still maintains.

The class-leading Xenon flash and a separate LED flash are big help in taking photos and capturing videos at night and in low light situations. It's also worth noting that the lens is wider than on most other camera phones (28mm compared with 35mm), meaning that you can get more into the picture.

Not only does the Samsung Pixon 12 have an outstanding photographic capability, it is attractively designed as well. The phone fits snugly in my palm and the buttons are strategically placed. I like the fact that with just a touch of a button, you can immediately capture your photos, without having to unlock the phone first.

The touch sensitivity of this phone is comparable if not better than iPhone, making SMS-ing and navigating around the phone a breeze.

And since Samsung Pixon 12 is not a smart phone, apps are limited. But the pre-installed features like the world clock, GPS, converter and communities are sufficient enough.

There's no standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung provide an adaptor to convert the Samsung headphone jack that's built into the Pixon 12 to your standard 3.5mm headphone plug, but it would have been much better if it was built into the phone itself.

The battery life isn't fabulous as well. Understandable for a phone with large screen and in-built flash.

Overall, in my case, the pros overweigh the cons. I have great experience with this phone. Nonetheless, I just wish that Samsung will improve its surfing experience, enabling more downloadable (and free) apps and at the same time, reducing the hefty price tag. Pretty please!
